1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
a. Authentication Information
When you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive:
- Your email address
- A unique user identifier provided by the authentication service
We offer the choice to create an account with a password. In which case, the authentication service encrypts and securely stores your password information.
b. User-Generated Data
We store data related to your use of the App, including:
- City layouts and buildings
- Earned rewards
- App activity related to progress tracking
This data is linked to your authenticated account.
c. Technical Data
We may collect limited technical data necessary for operation and security, such as:
- Device identifiers
- App version
- Crash or error logs
d. Profile Information
Users may optionally upload a profile photo.
If a profile photo is uploaded:
- The image is stored securely in a private Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 storage bucket.
- When a user uploads a new profile photo, the previously stored profile photo is permanently deleted and replaced.
- Users may remove their profile photo at any time through the app.
- Profile photos are displayed within social features of the App, including friend lists, friend invitations, and other account-related social interactions.
2. App Permissions
Scapedia may request certain device permissions in order to enable specific features within the application.
Camera Permission
Scapedia may request access to your device camera in order to scan QR codes used for account linking with supported services.
This feature allows users to connect their Scapedia account with external services by scanning a QR code generated by those services. For example, QR codes may be generated by:
- a Scapedia companion add-on used with AnkiWeb, or
- the Linguapon website for linking a user profile.
The camera is only accessed when the user chooses to start the QR scanning and pairing process within the app. Scapedia does not record, store, or transmit images captured by the camera beyond what is necessary to read the QR code.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Authenticate users
- Save and sync progress
- Maintain user accounts
- Display profile information and profile photos within social features
- Enable optional integrations with third-party services
- Serve advertisements to users who do not have an active Scapedia Pro subscription
- Improve app stability, performance, and features
- Respond to support requests
- Process account deletion requests
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Advertising and Analytics
Scapedia may display advertisements to users who do not have Scapedia Pro.
To provide advertising, we and our advertising partners may collect certain information, including:
- Device identifiers
- Advertising identifiers (such as Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and Android Advertising ID, where applicable)
- Information about interactions with advertisements
- General app usage information
On iOS devices, tracking for advertising purposes will only occur if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt where required.
Advertising partners operate under their own privacy policies.
5. Data Storage and Processing
User authentication data is managed using Firebase.
User-generated app data, including profile photos, is stored securely using Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.
Profile photos are stored in private cloud storage and delivered securely through content delivery services.
Data may be processed or stored in regions outside your country, depending on the infrastructure used by our service providers.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.
6. Third-Party Services
Scapedia relies on third-party services for authentication, cloud infrastructure, analytics, advertising, and optional integrations.
Scapedia may also allow users to connect their account with certain external learning services in order to enable features such as importing or syncing study progress. For example, users may link their account with services such as AnkiWeb or Linguapon through a QR-code-based linking process initiated by the user. These connections are optional and subject to the respective terms and privacy policies of those services.

7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account remains active.
Profile photos are retained until:
- replaced by a newly uploaded profile photo
- removed by the user, or
- the account is deleted
When an account is deleted, we will make reasonable efforts to permanently remove associated personal data from our systems, except where retention is required by law or necessary for legitimate business or security purposes.
8. Account Deletion Requests
Users may delete their account directly within the App.
When an account deletion request is submitted:
- authentication credentials are removed,
- profile information is removed,
- profile photos are deleted,
- progress is deleted,
- linked account information is removed.
9. Children's Privacy
Scapedia is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information.

10. Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable laws, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:
- Access
- Correction
- Deletion
- Restriction of processing
- Objection to certain processing activities
